The Alaska Skydive Center is located at Palmer Municipal Airport situated in the Mat-Su Valley, just outside of Anchorage. The drop zone features tandem skydiving, fun jumps, and coaching with a family-friendly feel. As the only drop zone in Alaska, they’ve done a great job of staying accessible to all jumpers and keeping that small-town drop zone feel.
If you’re looking to learn how to skydive, Alaska Skydive Center has a full AFF program, student rental gear, canopy coaching, gear sales, and rigging available.
There are often special events, boogies, and helicopter jumps, with coaching and load organizing available at all levels. The flight to altitude features stunning scenery of the mountains and Matanuska River, and you can even spot the Knik Glacier! Make sure to hit up Palmer Ale House when you’re done for the day.
Alaska Skydive Center is closed during the winter, usually opening in April (depending on weather) and continuing skydiving operations until it’s too cold to jump.
If you’re looking for other adventures while visiting the drop zone, make sure to ask the staff, as there are plenty of touristy things to do in the area, like view the glaciers.
